Coastal GasLink Creates New Community Fund

The North Peace Community Foundation and Coastal GasLink are excited to announce the establishment of the Coastal GasLink Community Fund initiated with a $50,000 gift, which reflects Coastal GasLink’s ongoing commitment to supporting and investing in the futures of the communities situated along the 670 Km Coastal GasLink route. Coastal GasLink and TC Energy have spent over $11 million in Community Investments & Sponsorships in Northern B.C. supporting local and Indigenous communities along the route.

This endowment fund, which will be managed by the North Peace Community Foundation, has been established to support community service organizations in the North Peace region which do work in the areas of safety, education, environment, and resilient communities. This fund represents a long-term commitment by Coastal GasLink to create an enduring impact in the North Peace region and support initiatives which support their corporate values.

“Through the establishment of this endowment fund, we aim to create a sustainable and lasting impact in this region. We believe in the importance of supporting initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the communities our projects intersect or proximate, and this endowment is a testament to our dedication to these causes,” says Heather Desarmia, Public Affairs Advisor for BC with TC Energy.

Chair Lori Ackerman of the North Peace Community Foundation emphasizes the pivotal role of collaborative partnerships in securing a vibrant future for the non-profit sector. She underscores the imperative for industry and government allies to join forces in funding programs that bolster community service organizations. Says Ackerman, “Support such as today’s announcement is integral to sustaining the commendable work aiding children, families, seniors, and newcomers in our region.” Ackerman highlights the significance of today's announcement, signaling a crucial stride forward in securing long-term, sustainable community funding sources. “With Coastal GasLink's support, the Community Foundation can continue to forge permanent endowments, significantly enhancing our region's social capital,” adds Ackerman.

The North Peace Community Foundation was formed in 2021 to manage endowment funds of this nature and distribute these investments effectively to support a wide range of community programs and initiatives. The Foundation’s expertise and shared vision for community development make them an ideal partner for this initiative.

As a corporation deeply invested in the well-being of community, Coastal GasLink is excited about the opportunities this endowment fund will create, fostering positive impact and long-term sustainability in the region.
